International Yoga and music festival, Rishikesh, India.

The Yoga and music festival in Rishikesh is a wonderful celebration of the true spirit of yoga. All the yogis, teachers and musicians who take part offer their services without charging, in the spirit of Seva, service offered freely and gladly.

There will be an incredible offering of knowledge from instruction in yogic philosophy and many styles of Asana, modern and classical yoga from Kundalini to Iyengar, to classes of Shatkarmas and pranyama. Every evening there will concerts of of Indian classical music, with musicians of extraordinary talent. This is also a wonderful opportunity to meet yogis from all over the world.

The proposed trip would be from the 4th to the 12th,  8 nights.

The final day to day itinerary will be finalized closer to the date.

The 4th

Arriving in Delhi late and staying the night.

The 5th

Class at the national yoga institute in New Delhi. Driving to Rishikesh (7 hrs) along the way for lunch and sight-seeing.

The 6th

Spend day at festival.

7th

Festival with excursion to ‘Beatles ashram’ and Shiva temple.

8th

Festival with visit to Holy cave of the sage Vashist on the banks of the Ganges

9th

Festival with trip to national park to see elephants.

10th

Festival during day and trip to the sacred city of Haridwar for the evening aarti cermony of offerings to Mother Ganges.

11th

Yoga class in morning followed by trip to Agra 8hrs, visit Red fort for view of Taj mahal in the evening

12th

Early morning visit to the incredible Taj Mahal

Afternoon drive to Delhi with possibility of shopping and catch late flight to KL.

Possible extension four nights, one night Delhi, two nights in Daramsala, home to the Dalai Lama, and one night in Amritsar to see the very magical Golden Temple.

13th

Flight to dharamsala  kingfisher 14.30 dharamsala 1600

Evening spent exploring this interesting town of Tibetans, Indians and Westerners.

14th

Excursion to waterfall and visit to Tibetan Hermit monk for blessings in morning.

Afternoon visit to Dalai Lama temple to see monks debating and to see Tibetan museum.

15TH

Drive to Amritsar, capital of the Punjab and home to the magical Golden Temple with afternoon visit to the colorful and fascinating border ritual at Wagah.

16th

Dawn visit to Golden temple, followed by trip back to Delhi for late flight to KL

The guide for this trip is Matthew Smyth an Indian group leader since 2007 specialising on routes with a spiritual or Yogic focus. Matthew is also a yoga teacher and free-diving Instructor based in Bali where he runs the Apneista School and travel company.
